Slickdeals

slickdeals deal site

Slickdeals is more than a deal site. It’s a community of users that find, rate, and share deals on all the cool stuff they’ve found. It was founded in 1999 by Van Trac and is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.

How it works: First, you need to create a login (it’s free) and then you can search deals or list new ones you’ve found. These can be anything from discounted electronics to overstocked clothing, or even cheap travel deals. Every time a new deal is posted, other users can vote on it and comment on it. This helps to ensure that only the best deals are featured on the site.

Slickdeals also has a bunch of features that help you save money. For example, you can create a “saved deals” list and refer back to it and track the progress of things you want to buy. You can also sign up for email alerts and get notified when new deals are posted. (Although, we highly recommend against this if it’s going to tempt you to shop more!)

Main benefits of Slickdeals:

  • Massive range of deals on products and services
  • Crowdsourced and verified deals for legitimacy
  • Can sign up for email alerts
  • Super easy to use and navigate

All in all, we are big fans of Slickdeals because it’s easy to use and has a massive variety of deals to find. Check out Slickdeals here!

Going (Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights)

going scott's cheap flights

We were lucky enough to interview Scott Keyes, who is the founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights! But they have since changed to the name Going. It is one of the best travel deal sites helping people find flight deals that can be 40-90% off the normal price of airfare!

How it works: First, you sign up (you can choose the free option) and select your home airport. The system will then continually monitor deals and cheap flight promotions for you. Price alerts are sent via email – and many of the best ones have a time sensitive window. So be sure to keep a lookout for those notifications when they roll in!

Price alert emails include basic information about the deal. Things like departure/arrival times, airport stops, dates and the price of the ticket. It also includes a link to which you can book the ticket ASAP.

Going also works with travel partners to offer exclusive discounts. This might be reason enough to sign up.

Main benefits of Going:

  • Cheap flight alerts on a HUGE variety of destinations.
  • Deals are sent to your inbox directly, as soon as they are found.
  • Customize your location and airlines preferences
  • Basic service is free (they have a paid tier for extra services and additional airfare deals)

If you love cheap travel and have the flexibility to jump on good deals, you’ll love Going. Check out their site here!

CamelCamelCamel

camelcamelcamel deal site homepage

Funny name, but an awesome site you should definitely know about!!! CamelCamelCamel is a free Amazon price tracker. It basically follows and records the price history of things sold on Amazon, so you can get a quick idea if the current price is a good deal or not.

How it works: First, you create a free account. Then you search for whatever you are going to buy on Amazon, and review the price history. You can either search via product names, or specifically by the ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number). Once you find what you’re looking for, you can check out how the price has changed over time.

Another cool feature is that you can create price alerts for specific items. So if something you want to buy drops in price by a certain amount, it’ll notify you so you can jump on the deal.

Main benefits of CamelCamelCamel:

  • Gives price history on specific Amazon products
  • Alerts you when discounts or deals are available
  • It’s free to create an account and use!

We love this sneaky deal site because it gives us consumers a peek behind the pricing curtain and a bit more power back when buying things on Amazon. Check out CamelCamelCamel.

DealNews

dealnews site

DealNews is one of the oldest deal sites around – it was founded in 1997! It’s also extremely popular, being listed within the internet’s top 1000 most visited sites.

How it works: DealNews finds and displays deals from hundreds of sources, including online retailers, brick-and-mortar stores, and newly released coupons. Deals are organized by category (if you’re shopping for ideas) or you can search by keyword (if you’re looking for a deal on something specific).

The site doesn’t require a login to search for deals, but it does offer additional features for those who do create a login (it’s free). You can make a “saved deals” list, get email alerts, or even participate in “Deal of the Day” contests.

Overview of benefits:

  • Frequently updated deals and discounts
  • You can get feedback from other users about posted deals
  • Email alerts available when new deals are posted.
  • Free, easy to use, and mobile friendly!

Woot

woot best deal sites

Woot is a website that’s actually owned by Amazon. Its business model used to be just offering one deal a day, which was typically a discounted product or service. But they have since expanded into offering deals on pretty much any type of product or service.

Many of the best deals have a limited buying window. And typically once something sells out, it’s gone for good. But don’t let that scare you into buying something you’re not 100% sold on – it’s always better to miss out on a deal than it is to overspend on stuff you don’t need!

How it works: You can log in with your Amazon account info if you have one. Then, browse the deals either by category, price range, or sorting by the best discount. You can also filter for “today only” or “last chance” deals, which usually have the highest percentage off!

Since Amazon owns the site, you can get free shipping if you’re a Prime member. There’s also a huge Forum section if you like to chatter with other shoppers and discuss the products that Woot is selling.

Best things about Woot:

  • Infinite range of products
  • Extremely competitive prices
  • Free to use
  • Really user-friendly, easy to sort
  • Free shipping and perks for Prime members

Even though it’s owned by a retail behemoth, Woot is one of the best deal sites around. Check them out here.

Honey

honey browser extension

Honey is a free browser extension and mobile app that helps you save money when you shop online. It’s one of the best frugal hacks we love and recommend! It has over 17 million users, and has saved people over $1 billion with discounts and coupons over the years. Honey is currently owned by PayPal.

How it works: First, you install the Honey browser extension. Then you continue shopping online as you normally would. When you get to the checkout section of a website, Honey will automatically start searching for coupon codes or available discounts. If it finds any available codes, it will apply them to your cart automatically!

You can also manually search for coupon codes, and it has other features like price tracking and price matching. One of the best Honey features is that it will tell you if the thing you’re about to buy is cheaper on another website!

Main benefits of Honey:

  • It’s free!
  • Auto detects when you are shopping
  • Offers price tracking and matching
  • Cash back and points opportunities
  • Mobile app available for iOS and Android

UntilGone is another deal site that helps you find any current discounts or promotions available for the items you’re about to buy. It tracks the prices of products across countless websites and then notifies you if/when the price drops.

How it works: First, you have to create an account (it’s free), then you add the products you’re interested in to a watchlist. Over time, the system watches for price changes and then pings you when there’s a drop or new discount available. Other than price alerts, you can browse the available deals on the site. Everything is neatly organized into categories with sorting features. Tips for Getting The Most From Deal Sites:

A few words of advice when using these deal sites…

Search with intent: The longer you spend just “browsing” for deals, the more likely you are to spend on something you don’t actually need. Instead, open these sites and apps only to search for things you are already interested in buying. Otherwise, you could bust your budget.

Be specific when searching: For the best search results, be very specific. For example, instead of searching for “outdoor furniture”, try a more narrow search term like “wooden patio stools”

Use watchlists and waitlists: Don’t be tricked into buying something because there’s a time limit on the deal or coupon. You’ll quickly realize when using these deals sites that new discounts and deals come up all the time! The waitlists not only curb impulse spending, but they notify you when an even better deal comes available.

Use the filters when searching: Narrow down your results if possible to drill down into the deals that fit your criteria. If your search is too vague, it may cause you to wander off course and start shopping for things outside your original plan.

Don’t sign up for too many deal alerts: The last thing you want is getting spammed with 50 emails per day, clogging your inbox and tempting you to buy more stuff! So keep your wishlist small, and only sign up for price alerts if you truly intend to purchase something.

The Bottom Line:

Online deal sites are a blessing and a curse. They can save you a huge chunk of money by finding discounts or coupons for things you are planning to buy. The downside however, is that spending a lot of time on these shopping sites can lead you to overspend or purchase things you don’t need.

Remember to use trustworthy and reputable sites when searching for deals or product comparisons. Saving Money is quite easy to do these days. You just have to know where to look!
