Hi there! I’m Joel Larsgaard from How To Money.

I have been in the money media space for over 15 years and apprenticed under one of the best money minds of all time, Clark Howard, for most of that time. But exploring the world of personal finance has always been more than just a job for me.

How to Money KFI

When I was 12 years old our family car was silently repossessed from the carport in the middle of the night. My parents both worked hard but found themselves unable to pay the note on that ill-advised new car purchase. As the financial difficulties compounded, bankruptcy became the only option.

What I remember most about those days was the fear and uncertainty. Those years of financial turmoil left an indelible mark on me.

I don’t aspire to Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk levels of wealth. Most of us don’t. We want to attain solid financial footing so we don’t have to constantly worry about our finances. How To Money springs from the desire to see individuals and families thrive. We promote financial literacy on several media platforms:

How To Money – KFI Radio Show

My newest venture, a weekly live radio segment on KFI called How To Money, provides down-to-earth financial advice to listeners across Los Angeles.

You can listen every Sunday afternoon from 12 – 2pm, by tuning into AM640, or live streaming via the KFI website.

How To Money – iHeartRadio Podcast

My best friend Matt and I started the How To Money Podcast back in 2017, and it’s all about providing the knowledge & tools that normal folks need to thrive in personal finance. We talk about things like debt payoff, DIY investing, and crucial money tricks that will provide continuous help along their journey.

We release episodes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, available on Spotify, Apple, Google Podcasts, or whatever platform you typically listen to pods on!

How To Money – Newsletter

In early 2022, we launched a weekly money newsletter. This light-hearted, super-positive email acts as a weekly “nudge”, helping educate and motivate people along their path to financial freedom.

You can sign up for the newsletter below. Emails come out every Tuesday morning.

Hopefully, this website can be a valuable resource as you learn and make progress with your personal finances too. We have a number of tools and helpful post to point people in the right direction:

  • If you’re completely new to personal finance or just beginning your journey, start here with The 7 Money Gears. ⚙️
  • If you’re not familiar with our podcast, here’s a list of the top 10 episodes listeners have found most helpful over the years. 🏆
  • Our Facebook community is a great place to ask (and answer) all types of real-life money questions. And if you ever have a question you’d like us to answer on the podcast, just leave us a voicemail. 🙋‍♀️
  • One of the most asked questions we get in our FB group is —> What’s the best credit card I should get? We’ve launched this interactive tool to help answer that. You basically put in your rewards preferences and it’ll display the best cards to match you 🫵.

Cheers for listening, reading, and here’s to a bright financial future for all of us! 🍻
